Relationship Counselling in London with Anna & Daren

relationship-counselling-london Are you experiencing conflict in your relationship?
Do you feel stuck in recurring patterns or ways of relating?
Is there a particular issue that is creating disharmony in your relationship?
Are you generally dissatisfied with the level of mutual understanding between you?
Would you like to have more understanding of the dynamics that occur in your relationships?

We believe that relationships provide an opportunity for growth as human beings. This can be challenging and from time to time couples can benefit from counselling to help them move to a level of deeper understanding between each other in their relationship.  In our relationship counselling sessions we will support you as a couple to work through your particular issues, and relate to each other in a deeper, more conscious way.

Relationship Counselling - How will we work with you?

In our couples counselling sessions, we like to work as a couple to support you as a couple, as we are each able to contribute something different and also mirror each of you in your relationship from our different gender perspectives.  In an atmosphere of safety and support each of you will be able to:

  • Share your experiences and have them received by your partner.
  • Connect to the feelings and needs underlying your experiences.
  • Understand the dynamics that are driving the patterns in your relationship.
  • Envision together a future as a couple better than the present.
  • Explore what you each would be willing and happy to do in your relationship to co-create this future.

Practicalities

couples-counselling-london.Session length: In our experience, 90 mins is the best length for couples counselling  sessions.  We are also open to sessions of 60 mins or 120 mins if that would suit you better.
Frequency: We suggest an initial session together, during which we can get a sense of the dynamics and issues in your relationship, and you can get a sense of whether our approach works for you.  If you want further sessions, we suggest weekly or fortnightly sessions, according to your preference and the urgency of the issues in your relationship.  We also offer ongoing couples coaching sessions, typically monthly or bi-monthly, to help you to maintain your relationship.
Cost per session: Contact us to discuss costs.
Location: We run our counselling from two locations.  One is our home which is located in Buckhurst Hill, in northeast London. We can also arrange a couples counselling session for you in a central London venue, where there is a small extra charge for room hire. Our home is located near Buckhurst Hill underground station, on the central line, zone 5 (30 mins from Tottenham Court Rd underground station). By car, we are near the A406 (10 mins from Leytonstone / Woodford exit) and M25 (10 mins from junction 26).

The Stages of Relationship

relationship-diagram.jpg
Our culture tends to promote the view that relationships are something that we simply fall in to and out of. If we meet the 'right' person everything can be wonderful.  If problems start to occur, then we think that maybe we weren't suited for one another after all.  In line with our consumer society, we discard the relationship and look for a new one that works better than the last model!

At NVC Resolutions our belief is that conflict is inevitable at some point in our relationship.  This is due to the very nature of relationship and the dynamics of attraction.  We are attracted to someone who is very different to us in some way or other.  Initially that difference is fun and refreshing.  Later on, we can become weary and frustrated with the difference.  This is the point of polarisation - the point when many of us discard our ‘failed’ partner / relationship.  In reality this is a tremendous opportunity for growth for both of us, if we are able to face and work with our differences.  Working through our differences we can heal our relationship and achieve a new kind of alchemy.
